There are always interesting things happening at Starbucks. For example, today I walked into my local Starbucks and found a guy wearing shorts, t-shirt, and a jacket sitting at a table. He has a roller case full of cords with him, a JBL portable speaker, a piece of paper, and a pencil, make that multiple pencils of different shapes and sizes. His drink is a cup of water.

I sat down at another table and got to work on my tasks for the day. Feeling I was being watched, I looked up. He was staring at me with his mouth gaping open. He didn’t seem to be actually looking at me though. His eyes were blank. I turned music on and attempted to ignore him. A few minutes later, he had turned his attention to his piece of paper. He would clap along to what appeared to be music in his head and then write something down. I assumed he was writing music or something.

Fast forward to a half hour later. I start smelling something sweet in the store. I look up and see him with a massive bottle of cocoa butter. The bottle looks quite old but it is mostly full. He is putting copious amounts on his hands and then all over his face. He pours more out onto his hands and then on his face multiple times. Then he moves on to his legs. By the time he has finished, the bottle is now a third empty. At this point, Taylor Swift comes on the radio. The song is Love Story. As soon as it starts his head begins bobbing. Then he starts dancing in his chair. Before the song had ended he was standing next to his table rocking out.

Following the song, he put a bicycler’s glove on his right hand and promptly made his way to the restroom. A few minutes later he returned. He walked to other end of the conference table I was sitting at and leaned against the table… looking in my direction. Then, with one hand he held himself against the table and the other hand he dead lifted a chair four times. Workout done, he put the chair down and walked back to his table. He packed all of his cords, pencils, paper, and speaker into his roller case before re-situating to another part of the store in the corner with comfier chairs.

I would like to think that this guy is some musical genius, perhaps he even writes songs for Taylor Swift! Who knows!? What I do know is that life is never boring when having adventures at Starbucks! I also know that I’m glad he decided to sit further away from me.
