I know everybody wants to know the answer to the age-old question, “What kind of alcohol goes with a cup of coffee?” Well, today I can tell you I have learned the answer to this. Sitting in Starbucks can be a completely normal experience sometimes. Other times, it is crazy.
For example, a guy just walked into Starbucks and was cradling a pink bottle of vodka. At first, I couldn’t tell what it was. He initially walked up to the place where drinks were delivered. The bottle was cradled in the crook of his elbow and he kept it close to himself between his torso and the bar. After talking to someone at the bar, he moved to the condiment bar. There, he stood in the corner and talked to another guy who was waiting for his drink. I couldn’t tell what the conversation was about, however.
After the second man got his drink, the man carrying the bottle went up and made his order. After he ordered, he moved to a table that was near me. There, he placed his bottle on the table… it was a bright pink but the label was in the wrong direction for me to read what it was. The bottle would sit on the table for a minute and then he’d realize people could see it so he would hide it under his arm for a minute. However, this apparently was uncomfortable so he’d put it back on the table.
Finally, he got impatient and went and waited at the delivery bar. There, he just put his bottle of pink alcohol on the counter. The barista brought him his drink. It appeared to just be a couple of shots of espresso or something in a small cup. As she handed it to him, she did a double take at the bottle sitting on the counter. He picked both the cup and the bottle up and returned to his table for his sunglasses.
Sunglasses collected, he made his way to the door. One hand had his cup of coffee, the other hand held the bottle and the age-old question was finally answered. It turns out, that the kind of alcohol that goes with a cup of coffee is a bottle of UV Cherry Bomb. A quarter of the bottle was already finished. He made his way outside to presumably consume one or both of the beverages.
Today I came to Starbucks expecting to just be in my own little world and write away. However, adventures sometimes happen when you least expect them. Today is one of those days. I’m not entirely sure what to think of this new type of coffee drink and I definitely wouldn’t want to try it.
