It’s so funny how people change when the camera goes on. I’m sitting at Starbucks and saw a gentleman walk in about a half hour ago. He is wearing a white shirt, a white golf hat, and dark jeans. I probably wouldn’t have noticed him as he was very quiet. However, he also was carrying quite a few things and when people carry a lot into Starbucks it always catches my attention. Part of this is a safety thing and part of it is a curiosity thing.
He initially took a place at the center table in the room and put his stuff on the table. There was a black soft box in a clear plastic bag, a small phone tripod, and another small box that I recognized as a DJI wireless microphone setup. I have the same one and use it regularly (I love it!). As he started to set up his phone on the tripod, another gentleman walked in. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and dark jeans. Both of them are very clean cut by the way. As the first guy set up his phone and pulled out the microphones, the two quietly talked about something. They both ordered colorful drinks, one green and the other blue I think. Eventually, the microphones were on and the iPhone was set up to film. They both sat down on one side of the table and prepared to begin filming… and then decided it was a bad idea. After some quiet discussion, they both stood up and moved outside.
They are now filming themselves on a table in front of Starbucks. The moment the camera went on they went from quiet and reserved to animated and what I presume is loud from what I’m seeing through the window. It appears that the video is some sort of an unboxing technology video. They are very intrigued by whatever it is they are pulling out, I can’t see because of a glare on their screen. They are crowding into the camera and talking to it in a very exciting fashion. They also dropped whatever it was at one point and had to pick it up, which was amusing (and I hope it didn’t break!).
I would be very amused to see what this video looks like and how it turns out. From what I can see, one guy is in full sun and the other is in the shade of the umbrella. They are also in an active and windy parking lot. While the DJI microphones are VERY good, I’m curious just how good they are! As I continue to type this, it looks like the unboxing is some sort of a camera or video camera that was part of a package with other things. Judging by the envelope and letter that was included, it was a gift. Oh, now I can see… it is a GoPro 12! It also includes the accessories. This is a setup that Daps Magic has as well and has been very satisfied with it.
As I continue to watch them, they are showing off the GoPro and dropped something else. It now appears that the video is wrapping up as they are cleaning up, throwing away the packaging, and putting the GoPro back in its case. All of this is being done on camera live, I hope it is shortened and edited. They are now holding the case, the GoPro, and its accessories with big smiles in front of the camera as they show off their new toy.
I love watching what happens at Starbucks. You never know what will end up happening on any given day. I’m actually quite excited for these two guys and their new GoPro. It’s a great piece of equipment for filming in many different situations. I would love to find this video whenever it goes live someday!
